The Verge
A downloadable game
You have found your way into the Verge, that edge of the forest beyond its edge. In the midst of the woods that stretch horizon to horizon, getting lost is easy, no matter how clearly the sun may seem to burn. The Verge doesn’t want you there, no more than it wanted me there. Whatever desperate hope you may hold in the Verge, once the sun has set it will be too late–without sacrificing more than you may be willing to sacrifice.
Heed me: the Ritual you must complete is intricate, and must be performed with precision. The pieces of this Ritual can only be found within the Verge.
Be cautious, as the Verge will surely tell you falsehoods. Walk with trepidation, for the Verge will seek to ensnare you. Fortify yourself, for the Verge will ask everything of you. But seek furiously, for the rewards are unfathomable.
What Is This Game?
The Verge is a solo journaling game about exploring a surreal expanse of forest beyond the edge of the world. You'll search for the pieces of an ancient Ritual, trying to find what you need to complete it before the sun sets, and it’s too late to invoke the magic you’ve been desperately seeking.
You'll keep a journal of your encounters as you make your way ever onward toward the setting sun. The Verge is not like other places though, and traversing it is not easy--nor always linear.
You may need to speak a word of comfort to a sorrowful woman who is beyond consoling, and with whom you will only have a moment; eat of the strange flora that grow in the Verge; haggle for a trinket in a marketplace of shadows; watch the bees trace sigil paths through the air.
You may need to give up parts of yourself to the Verge, sacrificing your closest bonds in life in order to gain just a few more hours to try to make it to the Ritual site in time. The Verge may twist around you, changing its features behind you so that you lose your path.
How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get there in time?
